ABOUT

Welcome to my little corner of the internet!
I'm Jemma, a 27 year old Disney obsessed 'adult' (ish) with a deep love for chocolate, musical theatre and the colour pink.

As a full-time primary school teacher, I always felt like I didn't have any hobbies outside of that. I spent my evenings and weekends obsessing over work, trying to get ahead, trying to stay on top of everything.  I also struggle with anxiety and depression from time to time and needed something to help me 'switch off'.

During lockdown of 2020, I bought myself an iPad and began teaching myself to illustrate digitally. I started an Etsy shop called Jemma Illustrates and began selling illustrated prints, stickers, pins and more. I documented my journey on Instagram and eventually started a YouTube channel, where I made studio vlogs to share behind the scenes.

But, I still felt as though something was missing. I loved illustrating, but I had so many other passions and interests and things to say, but I felt like I couldn't. I'd heard a lot of people talking about having a 'niche', so I thought I couldn't share anything else outside of that, out of fear that I would lose my audience for being so broad.

Moving house in July 2021 forced me to have some time away from creating and posting content. With no flooring and my whole life packed up in boxes (coupled with having to self-isolate a few times due to bubbles closing), I had to take a step back because it was impossible to take photos, create products and package orders. It was during this time away that I decided that I wanted to be more myself. I wanted to share more of my passions and interests, I wanted to write about things that were important to me, I wanted my own safe space on the internet. I still wanted to design and create, but I knew that I would never be able to keep up with multiple social media accounts on various different platforms!

I know a lot of people have different accounts for their home, their art, their travels... but I'm going to attempt to share anything and everything that makes me happy in one place. So here we are. I guess what makes me different is that I am attempting to blend all of my passions and interests into one space! I've decided to 'rebrand' as something a bit more open-ended, and "Ohh Jemma" is something I hear a lot from friends and family!

I hope you've
enjoyed reading a bit about me and how I've ended up here. Feel free to follow me on social media to see more of me and my personality! If you have any questions, fancy a chat or want to work with me, you can email me at ohhjemma@gmail.com or fill in the contact form here!
