How To Import Your Own Font

*For part 1 (where I explain how to create your own font), click here!)

In this post, I will explain how to import your font onto various different devices and platforms so that you can use it in your projects:

Laptop/computer

  1. Once you have downloaded the .otf file version of your font from Calligraphr, open it and press 'Install font’.

  2. If you have Pages or Word already open, you may need to close them first to be able to see your font as an option in the list.

  3. You should now be able to use your font!

iPad

  1. Downloading fonts to an iPad is slightly more complicated! First, you need to download the app 'iFont' for free from the App Store.

  2. Download the .otf file version of your font from Calligraphr - this should go to 'Files' on your iPad.

  3. You can then either press the share button (the square with the arrow on the top right) and click iFont, or go into iFont and import the font from files.

  4. In iFont, press 'Intall'. A pop-up will come up asking for permission to download a configuration profile - click to allow.

  5. Then, go to your iPad's settings. At the top left, underneath your Apple ID profile, it should say 'Profile Downloaded'. Click and then install. It will ask for your password to confirm this! Install the profile and then press done.

  6. If you have any apps in which you can use fonts, then you may need to close these and reopen them before you will be able to see your font as an option in the list.

  7. You should now be able to use your font!

Website

Since I use Wix for my website, that is the only experience I have! If you use a different web host, you may have to Google how to upload your own font if this method does not work for you.

  1. In the Website editor, click to add text and click fonts. At the bottom right, there should be an option to upload fonts.

  2. Click this and upload the .otf file version of your font from Calligraphr.

  3. Once this is done, you should be able to use your font across your website!

Canva

If you use Canva for your social media posts or projects, then you can also import your font to use there!

  1. To do this, go to Canva and create an account/log in.

  2. Click menu, and then go to Brand Kit. This is where you can create a colour palette, add your logo and choose your brand fonts.

  3. Click to upload a font and select your .otf file which you have first downloaded from Calligraphr.

  4. Once your font has uploaded, you should be able to use this in your projects!

I hope this has helped you to create and install your own fonts for use in your own projects! If you used my tips to create your own font, then please let me know or tag me in any social media posts - I'd love to see.
