On Sunday 5th December 2021, I turned 28 AND got engaged!
I'm usually really excited for my birthday and make a big deal out of it, but this year I wasn't that bothered. With COVID cases rising daily, whispers of an impending lockdown... I just didn't fancy doing anything! Then Boris announced the rules had changed again - including changes to international travel. B was panicking like crazy, and eventually told me that he'd booked for us to go to Disneyland Paris for my birthday weekend as a surprise!
However, with the rules changing, it meant that we would have to take a PCR test on return to the UK and isolate until the results came back, meaning we would need at least 2 days off work on our return. Unfortunately, we weren't able to both go so we had to cancel the trip.
So, because of this, we didn't have any plans at all for my birthday weekend! On the Sunday morning, B made me breakfast and then told me to go and get ready whilst he 'set up' downstairs. I could hear him blowing balloons as I was curling my hair. He shouted upstairs that he was ready for me to come downstairs...
When I got downstairs, the door to the living room was closed. He told me to wait a minute, then told me to come. in. When I opened the door, he'd put the Disneyland Paris Illuminations fireworks on the tv on Disney +, and he was on one knee in front of the Christmas tree holding the most beautiful ring inside a Disney Enchanted Fine Jewellery box!
I honestly couldn't believe it! I feel like the luckiest girl in the world and can't stop staring at my ring. I am so grateful to have someone as amazing, romantic and thoughtful as B in my life and I can't wait to marry my best friend! It was the best birthday present ever. B explained that he had planned to propose at Disneyland Paris, in front of the castle, but since we couldn't go and I was so sad, he decided to do it anyway!
