Taking Time Out To Rest

Hello everyone! How's your week been?

If I'm honest, I've definitely been experiencing burn out this week. I'm trying to do so many things with my time and it's been really tough. My day job as a primary school teacher is already very demanding, so adding a two-hour commute, marking, planning, after-school meetings on top of trying to write a blog, do social media stuff, restart the illustration side of my business and you have a recipe for disaster!

Most of it stems from frustration. I'm frustrated that I have no work-life balance. I'm frustrated that I have so many ideas and things I want to do/create/design/write/make/photograph and no time to do them. I'm frustrated that, by the time I get home, I'm either so exhausted to do anything else or I only have time to make/eat tea, do more school work and go to sleep so that I can wake up early the next morning to do it all over again. I'm frustrated that I would love nothing more than to run my small business and blog full time, but I just can't put as much work in as I'd like to and would need to to help it to grow.

I need to take time out to rest, but I'm struggling to find it at the minute. I love blogging and taking photographs and illustrating so much that it's all I want to do in my spare time, even though it's also a lot of work!

So, to help me out, I've written a big list of all the things I would like to do, ways in which I can grow and develop my small business and I'm going to make a start! Starting with designing and making new products to relaunch my shop...

How was your week? How do you take time to rest?

Sounds crazy at the moment for you. Please try & look after yourself.

I spent years running around, getting stressed and it did me no good.

I know exactly what you're saying about the blog though. I would love to do it full time, but something needs to pay the bills as well x

Sounds like things are very busy for you right now - and it is frustrating to feel there isn't enough time in the day, or energy for what you hope to do. Be gentle with yourself and remember to not stretch yourself too thin. Best of luck as you get going on that list and finding a new balance with all your commitments.

It's so important to show kindness and care towards ourselves during times of frustration, etc. I have hit a really bad slump and have not been sleeping well until I made some much needed changes (which I've shared on my blog). I can't deal with lifes ups and downs when I have insomnia so your post was a good reminder to take time out to rest. I hope things move in a better direction for you too and you get to rest, recover and restore yourself. | Molly @ transatlanticnotes.com

It really is Molly! I'm sorry to hear you've been in a bit of a slump - I hope that some rest and time out gives you a better perspective and drive to get back out there and do what you do best ☺️ Thank you so much x

I totally understand you. Its tough to have to work full time and blog. Blogging is demanding as well so finding time out is not an easy task. I am in the same situation but I’ve found a way to bring both together. I try to blog weekly so everytime I get back from work, I try to spend few minutes to curate something everyday.

It really is! It's not as easy as people think (I mean people who don't do this!) and it requires so much time, effort and dedication to make it what you want it to be. I'm trying to do the same but I'm frustrated as I don't have time to do allll the things I would love to do if I had all day every day! Maybe some day xx

It's so difficult isn't it! I'm struggling to find a work-life balance at the minute, and I don't think my hour commute either way is helping 😩
