I’m not gonna lie to you; I still haven’t fully figured out a skincare routine. Some days all I do is wash my face, slap some moisturiser on and then I’m straight onto my makeup. During the busy working week, my skincare routine has to be quick, simple, easy but effective. As a self-confessed lazy girl, the less time spent on my skincare routine means a few more minutes in bed! I also don't think it's realistic (or good for you!) to be using lots and lots of different products one after the other, especially on your face. If I’m going ‘out out’, then it's a different story. I’ll have a full on pamper session for at least 4 hours before I need to leave and enjoy every single minute of it. It’s either all or nothing for me!

My skin was never really an issue for me growing up. I had the odd spot here or there, but I never suffered with acne or any real major breakouts. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve developed quite dry and dehydrated skin, and, to be honest, it’s been a real struggle trying to find products that don’t irritate it, in a routine that works for me!

With that being said, here are the products that I’m currently using on/for my skin that have made a difference:

NEUTROGENA REFRESHINGLY CLEAR FACIAL WASH WITH PINK GRAPEFRUIT, RRP £4.49

This is the best facial wash I’ve ever used! It always leaves my skin feeling soft and clean, and it smells incredible. I use this with a buffing brush to really get into my pores and ensure my skin is clean. I’d go as far as to say this product is the reason I haven’t had any spots in a while!

*Fingers crossed it stays that way*

THE ORDINARY DAILY SET - SQUALENE CLEANSER, HYALURONIC ACID AND NATURAL MOISTURISING FACTORS + HA, RRP £25.75

As the title suggests, I am the ultimate lazy girl! I like it when I know exactly what to use when, rather than trying to figure it out for myself. Luckily, The Ordinary have a quick, simple quiz you can take which asks you questions about your skin type and issues in order to recommend the best products for you. For me, the Daily Set had everything I needed all in one kit, and their website explained which products needed to be used when, and in what order! Can’t complain. The word 'acid' scared me a bit, (I didn't use it for AGES when I first bought it because I had nightmares about my skin peeling off!) , but it doesn't sting or burn at all! Only a few drops are plenty - all of the directions for use are on the bottles just in case you forget.

THE ORDINARY AHA 30% + BHA 2% PEELING SOLUTION 30ML, RRP £11.69

This one is slightly scary, because it’s bright blood red and looks like you may have committed a gruesome murder! I use this one when my skin is less sensitive (as it’s very concentrated) and only leave it on for 10 minutes maximum! It exfoliates your skin and leaves you with a healthy (not red) glow. This one really feels like it’s working and I can tell a huge difference in the appearance of my skin after using it.

FIRST AID BEAUTY ULTRA REPAIR CREAM, RRP £39.99

Because my skin is so dry, I find it difficult to find moisturisers that moisture my skin for longer than the amount of time it takes for me to apply it! I’d heard a lot of good things about First Aid Beauty so I decided to give this one a go. It’s worked WONDERS for my skin and definitely helps to keep my skin hydrated. I tend to use this one over The Ordinary moisturiser if my skin is extremely dry. I also apply it to other dry patches of skin to just give them a little bit of nourishment.

L'ORÉAL PARIS FINE FLOWERS MILK, RRP £8.06

This is the BEST thing to take your makeup off! I use 2 pumps of this on a soft, wet face cleansing brush like this one and brush it gently into my skin. Wipe off with a clean face cloth and done! Particularly good for those of you who are also still in your cat-eye eyeliner phase (it's not a phase Mum!)
